Trucker strike – another meeting planned

The Road Freight Employers’ Association (RFEA) is set to meet with all four unions on Wednesday February 9 despite a notice of an intended strike having been issued by Satawu. The meeting will, however, not be facilitated by the CCMA. The meeting is the first since a dispute was declared in December following a deadlock in negotiations between the RFEA and the unions. Unions are demanding a 20% increase while the RFEA is offering 7.5%. Satawu has indicated that its members will embark on a national strike on February 13 and has issued a notice to the RFEA. The three other unions involved in the negotiations have not indicated if they will join this strike or not.
