The US Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) and the SA Police Service (SAPS) yesterday announced the results of a transnational cyber financial fraud investigation involving the two countries.
In Pretoria the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and HSI attaché and the national head of the directorate for priority crime investigation (the Hawks) revealed a series of arrests and charges.
These were related to an international mass marketing fraud investigation involving a West African criminal enterprise operating from SA, and with strong links to the US, according to information released to FTWO by the US Embassy.
