Symposium to focus on airlines’ financial health

Iata’s financial and distribution services senior vice president, Aleks Popovich.

The International Air Transport Association (Iata) has announced that the 2017 World Financial Symposium (WFS) will focus on sustaining airline financial health and speedy delivery of industry initiatives.

While 2017 will be another year of solid financial performance for the industry, rising fuel, labour and maintenance costs will squeeze earnings, and profitability is expected to dip, according to a statement released yesterday (Tuesday).

“WFS provides an opportunity to understand the challenges to achieving sustainable financial health over the longer term,” said Iata’s financial and distribution services senior vice president, Aleks Popovich.

The symposium will be held in Dublin, Ireland from September 27-28 and will focus on issues like trends in risk management and streamlining operations.
