Recognition for local cargo handler

Cargo Service Center (CSC) at Johannesburg International Airport is the runner-up in the international KLM Cargo Annual Cargo Vendor Awards for 1996. The award was granted in recognition of quality performance and continuing growth. The overall winner was Dubai Cargo Handling Services, which led the field of 200 handling stations around the world. Herman Wittebrood, regional director operations for KLM Cargo Africa and the Levant, presented the awards to Colin Baldwin, CSC operations manager at a function at the airport recently.

The Cargo Vendor Awards promote quality as a part of the KLM Cargo Total Quality Management (TQM) programme. Entrants are assessed according to nine strict criteria based around performance, economy, quality and innovation, says Wittebrood. The winning operations demonstrate quality in cargo handling, information systems and relationships.
