The Machipanda Railroad, which links the Mozambican port of Beira to Machipanda station on the Zimbawe border, may undergo reconstruction along its entire 317-kilometre length this year.
A consultant is to be chosen to carry out feasibility studies, reports Mozambican newspaper Notícias.
The ports and railway company, CFM, has so far spent the equivalent of R106.6 million on the line to stabilise it and to re-open crossings and stations.
The railroad is the only freight line to and from Zimbabwe and Zambia.
