Portugal’s defence minister was in Angola last week promoting a sub-concession of the Viana de Castelo (ENVC) shipyard in northern Portugal among Angolan investors, a source from the minister’s office told Portuguese news agency, Lusa. The visit aimed to “strengthen bilateral relations” between the two countries in the area of defence, as well as to promote Portuguese defence industries, specifically the sub-concession of land and infrastructures pertaining to ENVC. The future sub-concession of land and infrastructures will be in force until 2013 and initially be implemented by ENVC, as currently occurs with the German wind sector multinational Enercon, which occupies part of the shipyard’s property.
