New warehouse speeds up truck turnaround

Last month saw the official
opening by specialist
wine industry forwarder
JF Hillebrand of its new
warehouse in Cape Town.
Warehouse manager
Wajdi Erasmus said
the 10 000-sqm facility
comprised a 5000-sqm
bonded warehouse, three
receiving bays, four
dispatch bays and five
f lexitank fitting bays.
This is JF Hillebrand’s
fourth warehouse.
“Our first warehouse
space was only 100
sqm. Since then we have
upgraded and increased
the capacity significantly
but we realised that
we would need to plan
for future growth and
in January last year
construction at this facility
started.
“We have moved from
Montague Gardens to
Durbanville – and while
the distance to the port
is slightly further, the
turnaround time for trucks
has improved by up to 20
minutes, thus alleviating
much of the congestion,”
he said.
Marliese Martin,
managing director for JF
Hillebrand South Africa,
told FTW the facility had
been created as a valueadd
with the focus on
supply chain management.
