THERE'S A new package on the market designed to reduce bottlenecks and speed up the flow of cargo at ports worldwide.
Marketed as Destin8, this computerised port community system aims to eliminate paperwork completely in many areas. It will be available from May through Portis Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maritime Cargo Processing (MCP) based in Felixstowe.
Destin8 was originally designed to link clearing and forwarding agents with the UK Customs' system, but has since developed into a complete cargo community system, encompassing exports, imports, transhipments and hazardous cargo.
