New Maersk executive for Jo'burg

MAERSK SEALAND has a new regional executive in Johannesburg. Mads Skov-Hansen has taken over from Andy Price who has held the post for the past 18 months.
Skov-Hansen joined Maersk in 1993 as a MISE (Maersk International Shipping Education) trainee, and
has since gained experience in Copenhagen, India and most recently East Africa, where he was based in Kenya.
A significant development for the line during his East Africa tenure was the opening of the Salalah hub in Oman which saw transit times shortened and transhipment cargo arriving and departing on the same day.
Just two weeks since his arrival, Skov-Hansen is on a familiarisation drive, but has already earmarked customer service as a prime focus area.
He regards development of land-side operations as a further priority. The days where you could offer ocean carriage only are over. You must offer a fully fledged service to global and local customers.
