Moves to upgrade Beit Bridge security

The Zimbabwe government is studying proposals from road operators to improve security arrangements at Beit Bridge. One of the main problems is that truck drivers are not allowed to sleep in their vehicles overnight at the border post because they can wander in and out of the customs yard, making smuggling easy.

Truck operators have suggested that a security fence be put up and guards deployed.
