Madagascar looks to SA for lychee exports

Madagascar may look to South Africa as an export market as it is expecting a larger lychee harvest this year, according to online news site, L’Express de Madagascar

Fresh Plaza reports that Europe is currently the largest buyer of lychees from Madagascar but that a lychee exporter indicated that South African importers were interested in the Malagasy lychees.

The Malagasy lychee production is 100 000 tonnes per year. Madagascar is the fifth largest lychee producer in the world after China, India, Vietnam and Taiwan.
