The delivery of 700 pairs of second-hand boots to 34 schools and soccer academies in Greenfields, Ekurhuleni, this week was all in a day’s work for Bolloré Logistics.

The company sponsored the local transport and logistics requirements of the Boots for Africa initiative, storing the shipment – which had arrived from Australia - at the Durban port and facilitating customs clearance. The boots were then transported to Johannesburg where they were stored in a warehouse until the handover.

“Sport has a multiplier effect, and much like travel and logistics, it feeds into and off many other industries so we really see our involvement here as a worthwhile investment in our economy in South Africa,” said Bolloré Logistics Gauteng regional director, Mark Thompson.

The Boots for Africa initiative is aimed at supporting grassroots sports development on the African continent.
