Kenyan port steps up operations after presidential intervention

Following a directive from Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has increased its container throughput from the previous 1 200 daily to an average of 1 700 at the Port of Mombasa. KPA head of corporate affairs Bernard Osero told Business Daily, Kenya’s daily online news site, that this was due to free flow of traffic in and out of the port after improvement of truck re-routing through Changamwe roundabout.
