The WWF South Africa will meet with the freight industry tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of its ongoing study to ascertain what the freight emissions in the country are and how to reduce them.
According to Louise Naudé, the organisation’s national climate change officer, the workshop will take place at the Lamanu Hotel in Braamfontein and is aimed at engaging with the freight sector to get as much input from industry’s side as possible.
At the same time the WWF will also give feedback on their findings thus far. This will be the second workshop with industry since the start of the study more than 18 months ago.
The WWF findings, along with the industry input, will ultimately be modelled into a systems approach that companies can implement to reduce their freight emissions over the long term.
During the workshop the WWF will give some insight into government process on reducing emissions from the transport sector and the role of business as well as looking at the key challenges around adopting low-carbon measures.
The freight sector is invited to attend the meeting and take part in discussions.
