Find a partner and try Dubai

Seminar offers export advice

WE HAVE excellent companies in this country who can trade confidently with the world, but too many do not understand the full concept of globalisation and the competition confronting them.
That was the message from Richard Nefdt, director of Johannesburg based export facilitation company Global Strategic Alliance (GSA) Southern African Operations, who addressed a breakfast presentation styled 'Dubai - a business partnership' in Sandton last week.
Referring to South African companies trading in Dubai, he added: Big companies have been badly burnt because they have taken the wrong approach, or have linked with the wrong trading partners. Yet opportunity is tremendous for those who trade with Dubai or use it as a hub for Middle East and neighbouring areas.
Dubai has no VAT charges, trade barriers or strikes. It is crime-free, has an absence of bureaucracy and freedom of capital movement. What more could the exporter from this country want, except the correct guidance.
Kevin Wakeford, c.e.o. South African Chamber of Business (SACOB), said that while business sentiment in this country was at an all time low, the bullish sentiment of the Dubai business community needed to be studied.
