The power system was severely constrained all of Wednesday leading Eskom to call on its customers to use power sparingly. In an urgent communiqué the power utility said the power system was straining and in an effort to avoid loadshedding consumers should switch off all non-essential appliances including geysers and air-conditioners, Commercial customers were included in this urgent call with businesses asked to switch air conditioning temperature to levels of 23 degrees C.
