Eskom reaches wage agreement – but one union has yet to sign

Eskom has reached a two-year wage agreement with its recognised trade unions, the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).

NUM has signed the agreement and Eskom said in a statement issued over the weekend that it was “hopeful” that Numsa would sign soon. The latter is still considering the agreement.

In terms of the two-year agreement, Eskom employees will see a wage increase of between 8.5% and 10% this year and next.
