WHILE A large percentage of South Africa’s business community was taking advantage of the public holiday glut to enjoy a first-quarter break last week, the same was not true of dangerous goods specialist Eddie Crane. “I’m available 24-hours a day, regardless of public holidays and weekends,” the EC Logistics MD told FTW. The company, which recently opened a full service office in Durban, has been operating from Johannesburg for over five years. The Durban branch offers a full range of dangerous goods services from consulting and seminars to all the legally required placarding for hauliers. It is also one of only three operators in South Africa licensed to issue the Transport Emergency Card (tremcard), which is mandatory for any vehicle carrying dangerous goods by road. “I’m always just a cell phone call away,” says Crane.
