Zambian/China trade volumes increased to US$3.8 billion in 2013, up from the $3.4 billion recorded the previous year, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhou Yuxiao has said, according to a report by The Times of Zambia. In an interview with the Zambia daily newspaper in Lusaka on Wednesday, Zhou predicted that the trade volumes would increase this year due to continued trade ties between the two countries. According to AllAfrica.com, China exported between $600 million and $700 million worth of goods to Zambia in 2013 and imported around $3.2 billion from the country, with copper being a major export product.
