Border post stopping Swazi export clearances 20-minutes before shut-down

The SA Revenue Service (Sars) and its Swaziland customs counterparts are stopping customs clearance services for Swazi exports 20-minutes prior to closing time at Mananga border gate. The Mananga border gate is mostly used by road freight from Nelspruit and northern Mpumalanga province, and SA goods imported into Swaziland will not be affected. Swazi exports mostly sugar through Mananga. Sars has cut off service at 17:40-hrs for the clearance of Swazi exports. In return, Swazi customs cut off service at 17:45-hrs. During winter months the border closes at 18:00-hrs. The co-ordinated new scheduling is intended to reduce overtime incurred by Sars personnel at Mananga.
