Big upgrade for Saldanha

PORTNET HAS awarded contracts valued at R82m to extend the quay in the Port of Saldanha.

The development will help to accommodate the exports and imports from the Iscor Saldanha Steel Project.

A 320 metre long quaywall will be built by Murray and Roberts at a cost of R36,2m in the next 18 months.

A second contract totalling R45,8m was awarded to Boskalis SA for the dredging of 1,6 million cubic metres from the approach channel and turning basin for the new quay. This is due for completion in six months.
