African carrier launches Brussels freighter service

Ethiopian Airlines Cargo has introduced a four-times-weekly B777 freighter service between Brussels, Belgium and the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, where the freighter will provide onward connections out of Africa.

The flights, which started on January 15, will carry mainly flowers to the European city, while exports will be general freight.

The cargo loaded in Brussels will not have its final destination in Africa, but will continue from Addis Ababa to the Middle East and Asia.

According to Brussels Airport Authority head of cargo, Steven Polmans, quoted by Lloyds Loading List, this represents a partial shift of Ethiopian Cargo’s operation, since these flights have operated from Liege until now.
