Kenya sees Iran as major tea market

Tea farming in Kenya.

The East African Tea Traders’ Association (Eatta) will resume tea exports to Iran following the lifting of international sanctions over the weekend.

Kenyan newspaper Business Daily quoted Eatta managing director Edward Mudibo as saying that Iran, with a population of over 100 million people, was potentially a huge market for Kenyan tea exports. The Middle Eastern country was one of Kenya’s major tea markets before the sanctions.
