ON THE back of its
expanded product offering,
the Institute of Chartered
Shipbrokers (ICS) has
appointed Megan Harris
(FICS) to the newlycreated
position of South
African branch director,
effective June 23.
Currently ICS SA
education officer, Harris
will resign this role to
concentrate on managing
the Institute’s growth
through the current period
of healthy educational
change in southern Africa.
The ICS will appoint a
new education officer at
its AGM on August 7.
In a parallel expansion,
Harris has also been
appointed by the ICS
head office in London to
fill a consulting role in
international marketing.
She will work closely
with all ICS branches
and Distance Learning
Centres worldwide to
build awareness of the
professionalism and ethics
subscribed to by the ICS
for the shipping industry.
On August 1 the
Institute will relocate
to its new premises in
Morningside, Durban
with a dedicated training
room and additional
office space.
The ICS has 24
branches worldwide and
16 Distance Learning
Centres. Approximately
5000 students sit the
Qualifying Exams around
the world each year in
April, making them one of
the largest internationallyrecognised
professional
membership and education
bodies in the shipping
industry worldwide.
