SOUTH AFRICAN plastic trolly manufacturer Supercart is on a roll, exporting its products to half a dozen countries around the world.
Supercart m.d. Martin Deale says the company uses 12 metre highbulk containers to move its unusual product.
The containers - which are the biggest available - are as scarce as hens' teeth, he says. They are quite common in Europe but are difficult to get here. The company has sent about 50 to Australia alone, and also services New Zealand and the Indian Ocean islands. It has also begun export operations to Europe.
Supercart manufactures the world's only plastic shopping cart. The product is rapidly gaining favour around the world as it is light, cheap to maintain and not as attractive to thieves.
The foreign exchange opportunities are enormous. Because this is the only product of its kind in the world, and the rand exchange rate makes it so cheap, markets are opening everywhere, he says.
