Global terminal operator DP World has been granted a 25-year concession to develop and operate a new logistics centre in Kigali, Rwanda.
The entire project – estimated to be valued at US$35 million – will include a 12 000m² container yard (with 50 000 TEU capacity) and 19 600m² warehousing facility which is able to handle volumes of up to 640 000 tonnes. Further development will depend on demand and growth in the region.
DP World Chairman HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said: “DP World is delighted to have been granted this concession in Kigali, Rwanda and see it as an opportunity to use our expertise to build best-in-class infrastructure to ensure the continued development and growth of Kigali and the wider economy.”
