Terry Hutson THE NATIONAL Ports Authority (NPA) has begun the process of widening and deepening the port entrance at Durban. In terms of legislation an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has begun which gives interested and affected parties the opportunity to comment. The process of widening and deepening the port entrance will change forever the appearance of the gateway to South Africa, which has remained basically unchanged for over a hundred years. Workers are scheduled to be on site during 2005. The first of what will probably be several public meetings will take place at the Ocean Terminal Building at the Port of Durban on Wednesday, September 17 starting at 17:30. People wishing to register as interested or affected parties should email their names and contact details to Rod Bulman at rod@phelamanga.co.za.
