WOMEN’S DAY last weekend was a special occasion for a trio of Combine Ocean senior female employees. It marked the back-to-back arrival of the first two vessels in the new weekly CSAV Asiatlantic Service in Durban. The efforts of all three have been devoted entirely to planning the efficiency of the South African leg of the Far East/South America service in recent weeks. “It has worked like a dream, and we were thrilled when the CSAV Itajai sailed into Durban harbour on Monday, August 5,” says line executive Alison Sibbald. The shipping fraternity celebrated the event at a function on board the 1400TEU vessel. It sailed the next day after unloading Durban bound cargo from the Far East, and was followed on Monday, August 11, by CSAV Santos. It was a Chilean occasion in Johannesburg when CSAV hosted a function last week to mark the official launch of its new Far East/South America service. Flying the Chilean flags are Combine Ocean trio Diane Schmidt, Tracy Mzumara and Alison Sibbald.
