The Angolan government has announced ambitious plans to improve its logistics infrastructure. This includes the building of a new railway line and the opening of three major ports, according to the Minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás.

Speaking at the International Transport and Logistics Fair (Expotrans 2015) – which concluded today (Friday) – Tomas was quoted by the online daily publication, Macauhub, as saying that construction of the planned new deep water port of Cabinda was making headway and was on track for an early 2017 opening.

Other new port developments include the new port of Luanda at Barra do Dande (set for construction by early next year); and the new port in Porto Amboim, which is still in the planning stages.

Furthermore, according to Tomás, feasibility studies are been conducted on the creation of a new railway line between the Baia station and the planned new international airport in Luanda.
