African ports’ conference cancelled

The Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA) has cancelled its annual conference - planned to be held on February 15-17 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – and hosted in conjunction with the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA).

This followed newly-elected Tanzanian President John Magufuli making moves to fire several top managers of TPA - including the director general – and its entire board of directors.

The PMAESA secretariat is now planning to hold the 2016 conference in Khartoum, Sudan in November.
