Zambia/Tanzania sign cross-border deal to facilitate trade

The governments of Tanzania and Zambia signed cross-border road transportation bilateral agreements earlier this week, reports TradeMark East Africa.

Tanzanian finance minister, Saada Mkuya, and Zambia’s Minister for Transport, Works, Supply and Communication, Yamfwa Mukanga, signed the agreements which are focused on facilitating trade between the two countries through Tunduma/Nakonde, the busiest border in Tanzania for traffic from Dar es Salaam port to landlocked countries.

The agreements seek, amongst others, to improve efficiency of permit issuance, border control procedures and the operation and maintenance of transport and trade databases.
