Zambia has renewed its focus on courting foreign investors, emphasising its “ripe business climate” in all sectors of the economy.
“Zambia presents huge opportunities in all sectors. We have the best arable land in both Southern and Central Africa,” Zambia's high commissioner designate to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba, was quoted by CNBCAfrica as saying.
“We are also trying to diversify our economy, as our mainstay is mining. There are also huge opportunities in manufacturing and trading,” Mwamba reportedly told the news service.
Further, he highlighted that the countries laws and geographical location – sharing a border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola – make it an attractive investment destination..
Zambia's economy remains strong with growth expected to increase above 6% in 2015/16, according to the African Development Bank’s latest African Economic Outlook report.
