Ed Richardson NEW CAR exports from South Africa continued to show "useful gains" during March, according to the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa). The organisation says aggregate vehicle exports for the first quarter were 50,3% ahead of the corresponding period last year. During March 7 357 cars, 803 light commercials, and 17 trucks and buses were exported, bringing the total to 8 177. A total of 16 660 cars were exported between February and March 2001, compared with 9 863 during the same period last year in 2000. Exports are projected to continue to show "strong growth throughout the balance of the year," says Naamsa.
