The Namibian government is
set to create public private
partnership opportunities for the
establishment of truck stops and
bypasses on the main corridors.
The “Master Plan for the
development of an international
logistics hub for SADC countries
in the republic of Namibia” has
identified the rollout of bypass
and truck stop projects as a
priority in seven towns in order
to reduce the congestion caused
by trucks in towns along the
corridors.
They are Usakos, Karibib,
Omaruru, Otjiwarongo,
Ondangwa, Grootfontein and
Rundu.
The Trans Kalahari
Corridor secretariat has also
identified opportunities for the
establishment of truck stops on
the route between Gauteng and
Walvis Bay.
