Sebenza Forwarding and Shipping Agency is offering to host learnerships on behalf of its clients. According to Eastern Cape branch manager, Rialgo Barnard, the company is offering learnerships in both Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape. Many clients, he says, do not have the facilities or the capacity to train people for their shipping and customs departments. “After a year with us, the employee can go back to the company as a real asset,” he says. Training for clients is an extension of the in-house services already provided by Sebenza, which assists clients in setting up fully functional in-house international operational logistics departments. This includes providing in-house training of staff. Through this consulting, Sebenza has identified a need for additional skills. The learnerships will help address the shortage, he says.
