THE EXPRESS industry is no different from any other in terms of a skills dearth. “Our dream is that in three years we will have our own dedicated Saepa training academy in the industry,” says Saepa’s Garry Marshall. “Driven by James Hunter and Martine Maraschin, we’re currently sourcing programmes that are accredited and more industry-specific rather than generic. “And although we’re sourcing from local service providers we would ultimately like to see our own academy.” While there are several learnerships in place, Marshall believes they’re not providing enough.
