Both freight and commuters are moving more slowly in the major US cities – a sign that the economy is recovering, according to traffic information provider INRIX. As more Americans head back to work and consumer spending returns, traffic congestion has risen in 61 of America’s 100 largest cities this year. “Drivers are spending on average a full work week in traffic. While these increases aren’t great for drivers, it is good news for our economy because it tells us people are heading back to work, going out to spend money and businesses are shipping products,” according to INRIX.
