THE CAPE Chamber of Commerce and Industry will lead a trade mission to the United States and Canada from October 15-29 visiting New York, Chicago, Toronto, Boston and possibly Montreal.
The success of the previous mission to the US, and the fact that Canada is a trade-
orientated economy which has aggressively been pursuing international trade have
persuaded us to target these
countries, says the Chamber's Narieman Solomon.
Registered exporters will qualify for financial assistance under the EMIA scheme which contributes approximately 50% towards the cost of the airfare and R800 per day.
The Chamber reports that
its trade mission to Ireland, England and France during May will generate between R10million and R15million in initial export orders.
The mission comprised 12 companies who represented varied sectors of the Western Cape economy. Fruit, wine, footwear, light engineering and niche market products
and curios found markets in all three countries.
