THE 17 006 gt Bank Line general cargo ship Olivebank, owned by British shipping company Andrew Weir & Co, has been sold for scrap. Olivebank was employed on the trade route between Durban and the Arabian Gulf, India and Pakistan until earlier this year. She was the last of the Bank Line ships to call at Durban before the Arabian Gulf service was discontinued a few months ago. Other Bank Line ships on the Far East-Europe service have however begun using Durban for bunkers and occasional cargo. Olivebank was built in 1977.
