A main piece of work for the Ports Regulator these past years has been to compile a suitable tariff methodology for the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). And, according to PR CEO Riad Khan, this work is almost complete. “After October 21 this year, we will be publishing the draft tariff methodology for public comment,” he told FTW. “We will look at all these comments, and decide what methodology will be appropriate. The main points will be the TNPA’s profit, its valuation of assets and its performance. “We hope to be able to close this consultative process, and be able to finalise the methodology by April/May 2012.” Meantime, Khan added, if FTW readers wish to comment on the tariff process for 2012/13, but missed the public meetings, please comment directly to the PR. For your information, the full tariff application, PR and TNPA presentations and associated documents can be found on the PR’s webpage at: http://www. portsregulator.org/html/npa_2012_13_ tariff_application.html
