Tenders called for deepening of Walvis Bay

The Nambian Ports Authority is calling for tenders for the dredging to lengthen and deepen the entrance channel and basins. Between 1.5 and two million cubic metres of material is to be dredged and dumped offshore. The dredging is part of a R2-billion investment in the port over the next three years to bring it to a capacity of up to 600 000 TEU a year, in addition to facilities for bulk exports and a dedicated oil rig repair and maintenance berth.
