Rennies establishes Walvis Bay transport company

Rennies Consolidated in Walvis Bay has established its own transport and materials handling wing, with an in-house f leet of container handlers, trucks and trailers. “In the past we used to be at the mercy of external transporters in terms of rates and cargo f lows from our facilities,” says Rennies general manager, Mario Polster. “With our expanding transport f leet and sideloaders we now have more control over the f low of containers and goods between the port, our warehouses and the cargo destination. “This translates into improved rates for our clients and an allinclusive and hassle-free service. “The use of our side-loaders in national haulages means that our clients do not need to hire additional cranes or equipment to off load the cargo from our trucks, thereby saving them further costs. “We ensure empty containers are returned and the client does not have to worry about anything else,” says Polster. Hargu Horn has been appointed manager of Rennies Transport. “Without revealing our strategy, I can mention that we are busy fine-tuning the various systems and processes to make the flow of cargo from port to warehouse to doorstep as hassle-free and cost effective as possible,” he says. Rennies has also invested in addition security for its Namibian operations. “We have improved our security with an improved CCTV system that allows coverage of all our facilities and warehouses. “We are also certified to handle hazardous goods. “Our new EDI computerised tracking system also allows for improved control over the movement and storage of cargo,” says Polster.
