Real-time access data closes planning gap

ATG Digital, a South African access-control and visitor-management technology provider, has partnered with Transnova, a transport management and logistics control-tower specialist, to link planned truck schedules with gate-entry data, giving operators insight into arrivals, driver changes and vehicle turnaround times.

The integration feeds truck registration details, driver identity and entry timestamps captured at the gate into Transnova’s control tower, where the data is reconciled against scheduled transport movements.

The partnership is aimed at closing a gap between scheduled transport movements and actual site activity, the companies said in a statement.

“Traditionally, transport management systems rely on scheduled data such as expected arrival times and assigned drivers. However, changes on the ground – from delays to driver swaps – often result in discrepancies that impact both access control and operational efficiency.”

Verified access data is fed directly into the transport management system, allowing logistics teams to identify exceptions earlier rather than relying only on planned arrival times or assigned-driver information, the companies said.

The system uses data already captured at the point of access and does not require additional check-in processes, specialised hardware or extra information from drivers on arrival, according to the statement.

It allows clients to track how long vehicles spend on site, identify delays caused by missed or early time slots, optimise staffing, loading bays and site capacity, and improve coordination between logistics partners and site teams, the companies said.

The integration also reduces reliance on external tracking or telemetry solutions for site-activity visibility, according to the statement.
