The Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) has completed periodic maintenance on the R44 between Rooi Els and Gordon’s Bay.
According to departmental spokesperson Byron la Hoe, the R59-million project started in October 2017 and included crack sealing, patching, asphalt overlay, and repairs to culverts and gabions.
During the last few months, this route was used extensively due to closures on the N2 at Sir Lowry’s Pass, and protests on other routes in the Overberg district.
