AIRFREIGHT GROWTH between Africa and Germany is likely to exceed the predicted 5% growth for Europe - Africa.
That's according to Bill Viveiros, manager of Danzas Intercontinental, who has just returned from a management meeting of The Danzas Group in Frankfurt attended by over 60 German managers.
Southern Africa has long depended on Germany for major product categories such as automotive, manufacturing and heavy machinery, says Viveiros. Such high value goods tend towards airfreight because of the urgency and cargo care factors.
In the light of current interest rates ocean freight is too costly because transit times of several weeks mean that expensive goods lie idle, incurring interest costs.
