The Ports Regulator of South Africa (PRSA) has finalised the tariff methodology that will be used to determine the tariff increases for Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) from 2021 to 2024.According to a spokesman for the PRSA, significant strides have been made since the introduction of a multi-year methodology in 2015.“This is the third multi-year tariff methodology and will be applicable for the 2021/22 through to 2023/24 tariff years. It seeks to continue and strengthen the transparency and effectiveness of the regulatory tariff setting process to date.”The spokesman said provision for an annual review and adjustment of tariffs within the three-year period was contained in this methodology.“TNPA will be required to apply for a fixed tariff adjustment for each year under review as well as to provide indicative tariffs for the two outlying years.”The full methodology is available to industry on the PRSA website
