Port Louis plans extension to deal with increased traffic

Due to overwhelming container traffic at its harbour, the Mauritius Ports Authority has announced a large extension project for the Port Louis terminal.

According to global logistics company, Tuscor Lloyds, the project will ensure that the terminal will be able to accommodate 8 000 TEU vessels, which will equate to a yearly throughput of about 1-million TEUs by 2025.

The development, which is expected be finalised by September next year, will enable Port Louis to build on its status as a growing transhipment portby attracting traffic from larger vessels.
