Plants planned to process Angolan fish exports

Fish landed at Lobito are of a high enough quality for exporting, according to Angola’s Minister of Fisheries of Angola, Victoria de Barros.

And a plant for fish preservation, freezing and drying in the town should start operating at the end of 2017.

It will have the capacity to process 100 tonnes of fish per day, according to the Angolan private company Globalpex.

The US$40-US$50 million project will have a jetty, four warehouses (each with 400t of freezer capacity), and fillet preservation and drying areas.

According to news agency Angop, another similar project is being built at Praia de Eva, with a processing capacity of 300t of fish per day and due to start operating in September 2016.
