Singapore carrier Pacific International Lines (PIL) has announced the completion of its first intermodal delivery of a shipment landed at the Port of Beira in Mozambique.
The consignment, comprising stranded wire, ropes and cables packed into a single container, was shipped to Chegutu, south-west of Harare, on the Beira Corridor.
Container News reports that the cargo was shipped from Calcutta to Singapore via PIL’s Calcutta Express Service, before continuing on the Mozambique Feeder Service to Beira.
From there, it was transported by road across the border to its final destination.
PIL said it demonstrated its capability to connect landlocked destinations to international trade routes through Africa’s lower east coast.
The line provides shipping services in both Mozambique and Zimbabwe, supported by established local agencies and streamlined cross-border operations.
