New Capespan m.d. takes over Neil Oosthuizen ... we need to strengthen our position in world markets Ray Smuts NEIL Oosthuizen, new managing director of the Capespan Group, assumed duties last week after three years at the helm of the organisation's international fruit marketing enterprise targeting 26 European countries. He succeeds John Stanbury, who left earlier this year to take up a senior position with the construction group Murray and Roberts in Johannesburg. Oosthuizen, 51, was previously m.d. of the Capespan/Fyffes partnership, Capespan International in Europe, and is also a former chief executive of Portnet. Oosthuizen says the Capespan Group is entering an exciting period of strengthening ties between its key suppliers and the global customer base. "We are in the midst of a new season which has so far proven to be much better than the previous but are under no illusions about the competitive nature of our business. "The Capespan Group has wide and diverse interests and I look forward not only to contributing to a good season for our suppliers but also to strengthening our position in the world markets, to the advantage of the South African fruit industry."
